NaphCare is hiring a Dentist Part Time 12 hours per week on Mondays to join our team of medical professionals in the Pima County Detention Center in Tucson, Arizona. Pay rates range from $85.71- $90.23 per hour based on type of license, certification, shift, site needs, licensure, and experience.
As a Correctional Dentist, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide dental care to the incarcerated individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have a variety of duties to keep you engaged. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical and dental needs.
ResponsibilitiesThe Dentist is responsible for ensuring quality dental care is provided to protect the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Responsibilities may include and not be limited to:
Diagnosing, treating, and providing preventative care for patientsCreating treatment plans and performing dental procedures, such as extractions and restorationsEducating patients on proper oral hygiene practicesMaintaining accurate and detailed patient dental recordsPerform all dental assessments, radiographic exams, and dental treatment, to include emergency treatment such as oral surgery, restorative dentistry and periodontal therapy within the scope of general dentistryFormulate a working diagnosis, develop and implement a treatment plan and evaluate/modify therapeutic regimens to promote positive patient outcomesEvaluate all patients returning from offsite dental visitsParticipate in training and orientation of healthcare staffProvide oral hygiene education and discharge instructions to all patients seenSupervise and coach dental assistantEnsure sterilization and disinfection of equipmentCollaborating on with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients’ oral health needs QualificationsEducation / Licenses / Certifications
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD)Valid dental license in the state where the facility is locatedCPR certificationCurrent DEA registration
Experience / Requirements / Qualifications / Skills
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skillsTechnical skills in providing a full range of dental servicesKnowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standardsAble to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential informationDisplay integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirementsMust pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities:
Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
