What You’ll Be Doing

 

Cadmus seeks a Senior Analyst with experience in energy industry/demand side management resource planning and potential studies to join our Planning and Assessment Team. The Energy Division at Cadmus provides advanced analytic and strategic consulting services to energy companies, utilities, governments, and non-profit organizations. We are looking for smart, creative, intellectually curious, and flexible people who enjoy working on technical challenges, have experience conducting potential studies and an understanding of utility planning, preferably in a consulting environment.

 

The selected candidate will support projects involving estimating demand-side management resource potential that energy clients can use to inform short-term program and long-term resource planning decisions. They will support projects from start to finish, including conducting quantitative analysis, collaborating across project teams, and contributing to written reports and presentations. They will have the opportunity to work on/support multiple projects at the same time and broaden their knowledge of clean energy and the utility sector.

 

As a Senior Analyst on the Planning and Assessment team, a successful candidate will have:

An understanding of the technical and analytical processes required to estimate demand side management potentialProven experience with energy efficiency, demand response, solar PV, battery storage, building electrification, electric vehicles, decarbonization, and/or combined heat and power resourcesSome analytical experience with one or more of the following: strategic program planning, policy analysis, market research, advanced analytics and modeling, engineering, stakeholder engagement, and evaluationExcellent task management skills including leading technical analyses, interacting with clients and stakeholders, interpreting the results of your analyses, and collaborating with staff across a range of disciplinesExperience presenting research findings in reports, client presentations, or analytical models

Responsibilities

Characterize energy efficiency and demand response impacts on a per home or building basis, coordinate meetings with a wide variety of clean-energy stakeholders, write-up research findings for published and un-published papers, develop innovative approaches to solving clean energy challenges, conduct secondary research about emerging energy storage systems, or present your work to external or internal parties.

 

Planning and Assessment Research 

Conduct research and analysis related to demand-side potential assessments and integrated resource planning across a range of technologies including energy efficiency (e.g., efficient HVAC, water heating, lighting, and plug load equipment), building electrification, demand response, EVs, solar, battery storage, combined heat and power, and emerging technologiesLead or provide subject matter input to inform data analytics and modelingBuild or run models and analysis to assess demand side management potentials and integrated resource planning at all levels and across a range of technologies and program interventionsProvide technical support in policy, economic, and technical exchanges with clients, project stakeholders, internal staff, and other decision-makersSynthesize research findings and analysis outcomes to derive insights relevant to client objectivesDevelop detailed reports and presentations, clearly articulating findings, methodologies, and data sources, and actionable recommendations

Project Task Management

Provide active task leadership including ensuring all deliverables meet Cadmus standards and exceed client expectationsLead or oversee essential task management activities including budget tracking, task planning, and team collaborationWork closely and actively communicate with project manager, other team members, and clients to accomplish project goals; provide clear and consistent communications on tasks and raise any concerns or issues before they become problems, provide and receive constructive feedback, and manage expectationsCommunicate with support teams, including accounting, accounts payable, contracts, and operations regarding the health and status of all projects and tasksCommunicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and clients, in varying time zones

Business Development

Support the development and execution of business development activities, including proposalsNurture and build existing client relationships as a task leadBuild Cadmus reputation through conference presentations and papers Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area of study such as mechanical or environmental engineering, economics, statistics, mathematics, environmental studies, or other quantitative social scienceAt least 5 years of experience managing or leading research or planning projects that include both qualitative and quantitative techniquesDirect experience working on or supporting demand-side management potential studiesIndustry experience in utilities, energy efficiency, energy efficiency program planning, and/or resource planningDemonstrated ability and experience managing multiple tasksDemonstrated understanding of concepts related to energy efficiency, DR, solar, battery storage, electrification, and distributed energy resource potential studiesExperience in data analysis and interpretationExperience with task planning and budget trackingExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complicated issues to both technical and non-technical audiencesIntermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

Master of Arts or Science in a relevant area of study such as mechanical or environmental engineering, economics, statistics, mathematics, environmental studies, or other quantitative social sciencePrior experience managing, evaluating, or modeling demand response programsPrior consulting experience working independently to make decisionsExperience with staff management and developmentBusiness development experienceIntermediate to advanced skills with R and/or Python

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States as a U.S Perm Resident or U.S. Citizen.

The minimum starting salary for this position is $70,000. The actual salary may be higher and will be determined by several factors, including relevant work experience, education, skills, and market competitiveness.
