This position also performs grounds maintenance such as mowing, trimming, weeding and snow removal and sanding for the campus. This position may also drive the Resident Work Therapy crew to and from Fort Snelling during the months of May through September. The Minnesota Veterans Home in Hastings is a Domiciliary (DOM) which is an independent living community for Veterans. It provides a supportive environment that fosters a stable, healthy, and meaningful life for Veterans. Our rewarding program helps Veterans with their clinical, mental, chemical, and physical needs, and has the capacity to serve 195 Veterans between the Hastings and Minneapolis campuses. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for this position.** **Minimum Qualifications** + Valid Minnesota Class C Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or higher with passenger endorsement or the ability to obtain within the probationary period + Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions + Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and/or Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross or the ability to obtain by the time of hire. **Preferred Qualifications** + Experience working with Veterans and/or vulnerable adults + Groundskeeping experience such as mowing and edging, trimming trees/plants, planting flowers, weeding and snow removal + Experience with any repair, and/or equipment maintenance work + Knowledge of auto mechanics sufficient to perform routine maintenance tasks such as checking tire pressure, checking fluid levels, lubrication and cleaning of the vehicle **Additional Requirements** This position requires successful completion of the following: + A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position.
