Job summary: 

The Database Tech and Snowflake Center of Excellence (COE) team in the Data, AI and Governance organization has the mandate to build and operationalize data foundation platforms necessary for the enterprise data and analytics and insights initiatives, following industry standard practices and tools.  These new data platforms as part of OneMesh are built on Snowflake, AWS, Informatica Cloud, dbt, Airflow capabilities and support core business processes and analytics for all Global Business Units and Global Functions (GBU/GF) including Finance, HR, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Procurement, and others function-specific processes.  Our Snowflake Data Cloud operates a landscape of approximately 40 warehouse accounts with data ingestion coming from approximately 200 different applications and database technologies including AWS Aurora, Oracle, SAP.  

The candidate who will take on this extended engineering specialist role will need to look after the Snowflake, dbt, and Airflow software platform health, usage, support, performance & cost, know about new releases, features, training and marketing, showcase innovation, etc.  In this role the candidate will move from a service mindset into a product management approach.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The Database Engineering Specialist will

Responsible for technical design, administration, security and evolution of Snowflake, dbt and Airflow platform and servicesManage end to end deliverables leveraging internal experts, partners and do project managementMonitor project plans, provide overall coordination, and report status on regular basisDevelop work plans to manage key aspects of the technical solutions including documentation of specifications

Coordinate with partners, infrastructure teams, project teams, products owners, scrum masters and vendors (Snowflake, dbt Labs, Amazon AWS) to address solution architecture design and delivery considerationsWork with internal and external team members to lead system integration planning, data sources integration and solution for key analytical projectsEvaluate, recommend, deploy and manage strategic application technology standards enabling the organization to maintain a technological and competitive edgeBe responsible for transfer of knowledge to the support teams

Responsible for delivery of solutions using Agile methodology from detailed planning through execution, deployment and transfer of support services.  Enabling the capabilities of the OneMesh Snowflake, orchestration Airflow (MMWA) and dbt platform and service solutions.Enable new analytics database capabilities as part of the Snowflake COEContribute to the Snowflake, Airflow and dbt platform best practices in support of digital projects  Promote best practices on Airflow, dbt, Snowflake and data sharing to Digital project teams 

Ensure to maintain high level standard, compliancy, and operational excellence in support of the Snowflake, dbt and Airflow platforms and servicesEnforce compliance requirements of the solution in regards of GxP regulationRemains up to date on company’s standards, industry practices and emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) solutions

Key Functional Requirements & Qualifications:

Experience working with a variety of cross-functional teams Good understanding of agile/scrum development processes and conceptsAble to work in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment and manage multiple priorities  Pragmatic and capable of solving complex issues  Service-oriented, flexible team player Attention to detail & technical intuition Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills for executive level communication and collaborationFluent in English (Other languages a plus)

Key Technical Requirements & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant fieldExcellent conceptual understanding of structured databases, modelling, and data ingestionRelevant cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, Snowflake) are a plus5 years experiences with AWS, Azure cloud servicesExperience with Snowflake platform is a must have (account, security, provisioning, cost, data sharing and stream implementation)5 years experiences with other RDBMS such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle5 years experiences working with data models, ETL/ELT, data warehouse and query tuningExperience with ETL/ELT tools like Informatica Cloud and dbtStrong experience in deployment of cloud databases, hosting platforms, storage and migration services such as AWS SCT and DMSStrong experience in automation tools and methodologies specifically using Gitlab, Github action, Terraform, AnsibleExperience with programming languages such as Python, JSON, YAML, Shell Scripting, SQL Experience with Project Management Tools (JIRA, Confluence a plus)Good knowledge of Azure AD, ServiceNow and monitoring tool such as Splunk5+ years experiences in a data team as Data Engineer or data warehouse DBA
