The Database Engineer 5 is a professional, master role that plans and conducts assignments, generally large and important projects, or more than one project. The Engineer is fully responsible for the systems and infrastructure which support a product. The person directs and guides the design to ensure compliance with technical and architectural standards. The Engineer understands and communicates the non-functional requirements which are necessary for successful product operation. Additionally, the position ensures the implementation and transition into production happens smoothly. While the solution runs in production this person is responsible to resolve any problems or issues that are escalated. The Engineer engages vendors in the resolution of incidents as necessary, and once an incident is resolved, the Engineer is responsible to ensure all defects in the system or process are identified, tracked, and resolved. This person ensures that all proposed changes have been adequately planned and reviewed eliminating the possibility of unplanned service outages. This is a leadership role that mentors other engineers.
