Database Administrator Advanced Engineer

Summary of Duties:

Responsible for GameStop’s consumer connectivity, customization, and commerce efforts as part of the data management organization. Collaborates with other information technology associates and functional business teams to build, deliver, and support effective, creative data management solutions aligned to specified business initiatives. Creates, coordinates, and administers databases, including base definition, structure documentation, operational guidelines, and security. Monitors project deliverables, as directed, to ensure project and functional leaders receive accurate, timely updates as required. Applies established data management best practices and recommends improvements. Assists application support teams with third party application installations and upgrades. Advanced performance tuning.

This position sits onsite 5 days a week in Grapevine, TX.

Qualifications:             

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any), or related fields of study and five (5) years of work experience in the job offered or related occupation in which the required experience was gained. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any), or related fields of study and five (5) years of work experience in the job offered or related occupation in which the required experience was gained, the employer will also accept a Master’s degree in Engineering (any), or related fields of study and two (2) years of work experience in the job offered or related occupation in which the required experience was gained. Applicants must also have demonstrated experience with the following: Tuning for OLTP databases; SQL Server Transactional, merge and snapshot Replication; Large volume databases, specifically SQL Server 2008R2 through 2016; Performing system health assessment; Analyzing and debugging query performance issues, execution plans and writing complex queries; Automating, building repository and PowerShell scripting; Resolving locking, blocking, deadlocks and database contention issues; Disaster recovery principles and practices, including planning, testing, and backup/restore; SQL Server tools, specifically, Profiler/Management Studio/Enterprise Manager; Relational and dimensional data modeling; Replication, distributed systems performance tuning, and optimization; SQL Server Failover clustering, Log shipping, replication and mirroring; Idera and Red Gate tools; SAN technologies and database storage best practices; and Configuration management, version control and web publishing strategies.
