GovCIO is currently hiring for a Database Administrator to support our customer, USPS’ Network and Compute Technology (NCT) group.

 

Network and Compute Technology (NCT) is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and support of the USPS network and compute technology infrastructure. NCT enhances the postal network by implementing network segmentation, which divides the network into smaller parts to mitigate cybersecurity risks and improve performance. The NCT department manages local area, wireless, and wide area network connections for over 32,000 USPS facilities, including the data center, internet, cloud, and business partner networks.

 

NCT manages and oversees the Postal Service’s cloud services and data center infrastructure, which includes more than 24,000 servers, 110 petabytes of storage, and multiple cloud provider services to enable applications. Additionally, NCT is responsible for keeping the digital networks across the USPS landscape and compute infrastructures for applications running optimally, ensuring that they are secure and reliable 24/7.

 

This position can be located in Eagan MN, Memphis TN, Raleigh NC, or San Mateo CA with a hybrid schedule OR Remote MIGHT be considered.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing complex functional activities in support of Oracle RDBMS products and services, Oracle eBusiness Suite, and/or NoSQL databases such as Cassandra. This role requires a deep understanding of database technologies and the ability to manage and optimize both relational and NoSQL databases in high-performance environments.

Manage and maintain Oracle databases including E-Business Suite, ensuring high availability and performance.Design, implement, and manage NoSQL databases, including Cassandra.
Schedule and apply new patches and versions as required. Monitor database performance, implement changes.  Perform database tuning and optimization.Develop and implement database backup, recovery, and security strategies.Collaborate with developers to design and optimize database schemas and queries.
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.Ensure data integrity and security.Create and maintain documentation related to database configurations, processes, and procedures.Use system management tools to monitor, mitigate, and remediate vulnerabilitiesProvide project plans, reports, and presentations using Microsoft suite of tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, etc.)

Oracle RDBMS Support:

Upgrade, install, patch, and remediate vulnerabilities in Oracle RDBMS products and services on Linux servers.Manage and maintain a complex Oracle RDBMS production environment.

Oracle eBusiness Suite Support:

Upgrade, install, patch, and remediate vulnerabilities in Oracle eBusiness Suite applications on Linux servers.Ensure the integration and performance of Oracle eBusiness Suite with other systems.Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Oracle eBusiness Suite. 

NoSQL Database Support:

Understand the complexities of NoSQL databases in scalable, high-performance applications.Work with NoSQL databases such as Cassandra.Handle database patching, design, vulnerability remediation and write complex queries on Windows and Linux servers. Qualifications

Bachelor’s with 5 - 8 years (or commensurate experience) in database administration

 

Required Skills and Experience

5-7 years’ experience in database administrationProven experience in managing Oracle RDBMS, Oracle eBusiness Suite, and/or NoSQL databases.Strong understanding of database design, optimization, and query writing.Proficiency in UNIX and Microsoft Windows operating systems.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.


Clearance Required:  US citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card) is required to acquire USPS Public Trust


Preferred Skills and Experience

A degree from an accredited College/University in the applicable field of services is preferred.

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
