THE POSITION
Do you have a strong understanding of database management systems including MS SQL Server and experience with data analytics, machine learning, and data mining? The Public Utilities Commission (PUC) is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Database Administrator to join our Data Management and Support section of IT (information technology). This position gives you the opportunity to work with databases of varied complexity, optimizing database configurations and ensuring secure access. Work involves resolving database performance and capacity issues as well as performing work on a variety of complex and challenging database projects. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the PUC's databases. This includes performing database backup and recovery exercises as well as creating, developing, and implementing databases. You will be involved in building data collection systems as well as exploring data analytics, machine learning, data mining, and other AI-based data resources. Additionally, you will create big data repositories, data warehouses, and data marts. Finally, you will implement other data solutions and create data strategies that will optimize statistical efficiency and quality.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment
+ Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
+ Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania that is within a reasonable travel distance of Harrisburg. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ One year as a Database Analyst or Information Technology Generalist 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);or
+ Five years of information technology experi ence that includes two years in the analysis, design, and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration;or
+ Three years of information technology experience that includes two years in the analysis, design, and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration, and an associate's degree in any information technology field;or
+ One year of information technology experience in the analysis, design, and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration, and a bachelor's degree in any information technology field;or
+ An equivalent combination of experience and training.
