Data Visualization Specialist

Description

Please note: This role is contingent upon a contract award. While it is not an immediate opening, we are actively conducting interviews and extending offers in anticipation of the award.

We are seeking a Data Visualization Specialist who is passionate about turning complex data into clear, compelling visuals that drive decision-making and improve public systems and services. You’ll work directly with clients and stakeholders to design, implement, and evolve custom data analytic and reporting solutions, including dashboards and reports built from the ground up using modern BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.

This role supports a major digital modernization initiative utilizing AI/ML tools to strengthen regulatory insight, enhance program effectiveness, and improve public safety outcomes. You'll collaborate within a cross-functional team of data scientists, engineers, analysts, and designers to translate data into easily consumable insights and help clients evolve from pre-existing BI solutions to "what’s next" capabilities.

Job Location: This position is fully remote within United States.

What you’ll be doing:

Collaborate with clients and team members to gather and clarify reporting and visualization requirements

Design and build interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools

Conduct data exploration and profiling to understand data structures and ensure accuracy in reporting

Work with data engineers and analysts to shape and access required data from cloud platforms or data warehouses

Create report mockups, data flow diagrams, and wireframes to guide development

Help users interpret dashboards and make informed decisions based on your visualizations

Apply human-centered design and data storytelling techniques to improve user experience and value

Participate in Agile delivery, supporting iteration, sprint planning, and feedback cycles

Technologies you’ll use:

BI tools: Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, Looker

SQL, with light use of Python or R for data exploration and automation

Cloud services: Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, AWS Redshift, AWS Glue

Collaboration tools: SharePoint, Jira, Confluence, Mural/Miro

MS Office tools: Excel, PowerPoint, Visio

What You Will Bring With You:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or Design)

1+ years of experience designing and delivering dashboards and data visualizations using BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik

1+ years of experience with data analysis, data storytelling, and interpreting business questions through visual solutions

U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder) preferred

Employment must be compliant with eligibility for Public Trust Clearance due to Government Contract.

What We Would Like You To Bring With You:

Hands-on experience with at least one BI tool such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik

Foundational knowledge of SQL for querying or validating data

Foundational knowledge of Human Centered Design principles

Experience collaborating with stakeholders to translate business needs into visual solutions

Exposure to cloud-based data sources, such as Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, or AWS Redshift/Glue

Basic understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and how to structure data for BI tools

Familiarity with scripting in Python or R for light analysis or data prep

Understanding of data storytelling, visual best practices, and accessibility in dashboards

Experience working alongside data engineers, analysts, and MLOps teams to support ML pipelines and structured reporting

Knowledge of data warehouse concepts, including data modeling and data governance fundamentals

Exposure to or interest in Agile methodologies and collaboration tools like Jira, Confluence, Mural, or Miro

Professional Skills

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multitask.

Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$73,722.00 - $125,327.00
