Data Systems Architect

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be: Develop strategy for Flow Controls data warehousing and general database infrastructure needs.  Keep current on Flow Controls major initiatives and engage with management to understand, evaluate, and design solutions that provide maximum benefit to Flow Controls manufacturing.  Architect the environment mix of on-prem and cloud servers, technology solution choice, design, and implementation of sophisticated data solutions for both application delivery and business reporting. Understand and evaluate the data landscape within Flow Controls from an infrastructure, cost, and support-ability perspectives.  Keep current on Microsoft Azure, SQL Server, and Power BI platform offerings and improvements. Leverage where appropriate to improve return on investment within the data environment. Liaison between Emerson Enterprise IT DBA staff and Flow Controls IT staff as main point of contact for SQL Server infrastructure by other internal IT teams. Serve as an elevation point and own incident management within the data environment. This is not on-call support but rather understanding and navigating the matrix IT organization within Enterprise IT to align problems with their accurate and respective owners. Own the development of standards and implement standard practices for the data environment for DBAs & SQL Developers. Project management of the data components of Flow Controls IT solutions, such as application back-ends, data warehouses, ETL, and data interfaces. Communicate to IT and Business management when appropriate regarding project plans, risk, value, resource planning, cost tracking/budgeting Who You Are:

For This Role, You Will Need: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or AA/Technical degree + 15 years of relevant experience). 10+ years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server, including 7+ years as a DBA or Developer and at least 2 years in Azure SQL environments. Strong expertise in managing SQL Server infrastructure, with hands-on experience in SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, and ETL/report development. Solid understanding of general IT infrastructure such as networks, firewalls, storage systems (SAN), virtual/physical servers, and high availability. Demonstrable ability to lead complex projects and mentor team members, with demonstrated leadership and communication skills across technical and management teams. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to align technical solutions with business and financial goals. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experienced in managing collaborator expectations and project timelines. Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart: Microsoft certifications such as MCSA or MCSE. Contributions to the data community (e.g., blogs, publications) or Microsoft MVP recognition.
