Wärtsilä Global Logistics Services (WGLS) is responsible for managing the end-to-end flow of Wärtsilä spare parts. To improve our operational performance, we are looking for a Data Scientist with a main responsibility in providing reporting services and analytics support for our warehouse and global distribution operations. The preferred location for this position is Helsinki (FI) but also Vaasa, Turku (FI), Trieste (IT) are negotiable. We offer a possibility to hybrid work.
Your role and responsibilities
As a Data Scientist your work will include working closely with our logistics experts and management representatives transforming data into actionable insights.
Develop and maintain reports using Microsoft Power BI Extract, transform and load data from different data warehouses Monitor and optimize reporting performances Collect requirements from stakeholders and deliver right solutions
In addition to that you will have an important role in driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance existing reporting and data practices. The tasks can also be adjusted based on your individual skills and interests. You’ll be working as a part of Analysis and Automation team within Operations Support with diverse expertise.
Requirements for the position:
Hands-on experience on creating and developing reports with Microsoft Power BI Good command in Power BI related expression languages: DAX & Power Query Good command in SQL Proactive, analytical and solution-oriented mindset, with a can-do attitude Good problem-solving skills and ability to learn efficiently Good communication, collaboration and presentation skills
Qualifications/to be able to succeed in the position we expect you to have:
Experience in SAP, mainly on EWM side Understanding of logistics processes (warehousing and outbound) nterest in Machine Learning and how to apply it in a logistic company Knowledge about Process Mining
