Position Summary:

KBR is seeking a Data Scientist to join our team in Dayton, OH. This position can be onsite or remote. KBR solves the toughest problems for our clients by extracting insight from data, delivering greater decision confidence, and improving processes.   Our analysts are involved in a wide range of activities that range from understanding and transforming data, applying state of the art analytic techniques, and driving business impact through insight visualization.  Our analysts are leveraged across of range of projects, such as artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, business process improvement, and application development. KBR analysts collaborate with Operations Research Analysts, Software Development Professionals, Data Architects, and Subject Matter Experts.

Key Responsibilities:

Execute analytical experiments methodically to help solve various problems and make a true impact across various domains and industriesResearch and apply state-of-the-art artificial intelligence methods and innovative statistical modelsIdentify relevant data sources and sets to mine for client business needs, and collect large structured and unstructured datasets and variablesProcess, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysisDevelop code for predictive/prescriptive models with applied machine learning and other modeling techniques Clearly document and present methodology, assumptions, and findings to stakeholdersWorking with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams to improve business outcomesDeliver in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environmentAdapt quickly to changing needs across several core areas, including data wrangling, data exploration, data analysis, and data visualizationArticulate trade-offs between analytic techniques, recommend a course of action to clients, and provide effective updates on project outcome uncertainty to leadership.

Hands on experience performing analysis to solve problems

Discovering insights hidden in large data setsUsing a variety of advanced analysis methods, data tools, and modelsUsing/creating algorithms and/or creating/running simulationsTesting the effectiveness of different courses of action

Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Data Science or related field2+ yrs experience in Data Science or Data analysisProficiency in programming languages like Python or RExperience with AI frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorchFamiliarity with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures and Large Language Models (LLM)Developing data pipelines to support AnalyticsApplying advanced analytics and machine learning techniquesDocumenting and communicating results of analysisFamiliarity with SQL and BI Tools (Tableau, Qlik etc.)Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsHands on experience with driving analytic insights and workflow automation. Must have the ability and motivation to self-teach in order to stay current with leading best practices in analytics.Candidates must be able to tackle difficult problems, specifically working with artificial intelligence.Expected to have data wrangling skills.
