Amazon’s People Experience and Technology Central Science (PXTCS) is an interdisciplinary team that uses economics, behavioral science, statistics, and machine learning to identify products, mechanisms, and process improvements that enhance Amazonians' well-being and their ability to deliver value for Amazon's customers. We are seeking a data scientist who is passionate about deriving accurate and actionable insights to help us collaborate with HR teams across Amazon to make Amazon PXT the most scientific human resources organization in the world.
As a Data Scientist on this team you will:
• Lead Data Science solutions from beginning to end.
• Deliver with independence on challenging problems with complexity and ambiguity.
• Write code (Python, R, Scala, SQL, etc.) to obtain, manipulate, and analyze data.
• Build Machine Learning and statistical models to solve specific business problems.
• Retrieve, synthesize, and present critical data in a format that is immediately useful to answering specific questions or improving system performance.
• Analyze historical data to identify trends and support optimal decision making.
• Work closely with other researchers to design and implement advanced causal and predictive statistical models.
• Collaborate with Engineers to build scalable solutions that align with science priorities.
• Coordinate with senior business partners and our interdisciplinary team of UX researchers, data scientists, economists, and engineers to deliver real time insights into the corporate employee experience at Amazon.

Ideal candidates will have experience with large, unstructured data sets, ML tools, and predictive and/or causal statistical models. About the team
Amazon’s People Experience and Technology Central Science (PXTCS) is an interdisciplinary team that uses economics, behavioral science, statistics, and machine learning to identify products, mechanisms, and process improvements that enhance Amazonians' well-being and their ability to deliver value for Amazon's customers.
Basic Qualifications
- 1+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience
- 2+ years of data/research scientist, statistician or quantitative analyst in an internet-based company with complex and big data sources experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of statistical packages and business intelligence tools such as SPSS, SAS, S-PLUS, or R
- Experience with clustered data processing (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Map-reduce, and Hive)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $97,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
