The Data Governance Lead is responsible for defining and operating the data governance policies. They also implement and enforce the policies to ensure compliance. enabling business users to utilize McLane data analytics assets, data governance tools, cloud technologies such as Microsoft Fabric's capabilities, mentoring them on technical features, and fostering a collaborative user community. The role requires understanding data assets, data analytics items such as reporting/visualization, semantic models, querying/transformation using notebooks, and strong communication skills to bridge the gap between IT and business user enablement.
This is a hybrid position which will require the candidate to report and work from the office three days a week. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Temple, TX.

Establish and maintain policies and standards for end-to-end data governance.Define governance operational processes and ensure accordance with policies and standards.Support key personnel from BUs on understanding and executing data roles and responsibilities.Monitor and measure compliance to standards and processes; identify and address key issues.Serve as the subject matter expert to BUs on cloud analytics data assets, features, and integration points to self-service from tools such as Microsoft Fabric, ThoughSpot, Tableau.Mentor and enable business users to create Power BI content, utilize Python spark notebooks for data querying and analysis, build data pipelines.Organize and lead Fabric User Group sessions to encourage peer-to-peer learning and sharing of best practices.Develop and deliver training materials tailored to users at various skill levels, from onboarding to advanced solution development.Ensure governance mechanisms are in place to monitor and control access to data.Solve cross-BU governance issues and escalate to senior leadership as needed.Chair Group Data Governance Committee.Conduct training sessions with Data Management Roles i.e., Data Owners, Data Stewards, etc. using Data Governance and Business Catalog tools such as Microsoft Purview/Google Data Catalog/Collibra/Ataccama.Support Chief Data Officer on communication of key governance priorities and successes across the enterprise as needed.Stay abreast of data regulatory landscape, including upcoming changes and trends.Define data-related regulatory strategy to ensure that organization stays vigilant to changing regulatory landscape.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications you’ll bring as a Data Governance Lead
Bachelor’s degree required; Computer Science, MIS, or Engineering preferred.7 years of experience in data governance programs2 years in management roleCertification from a major data management standards organization (e.g., DAMA, EDM Council) a big plusProfessional with a sense of mission and with a vision of transformation efforts Deep knowledge of data governance processes, tools, and best practicesUnderstands how to establish key data governance processes successfully in an Enterprise “from scratch” across data quality observability, data cataloguing, metadata and lineage, and data access controls management.Adaptability to the dynamic business environmentsInfluence-based leadership of initiatives across teamsKnowledge regarding Data regulations and trends in data regulation is a plus but not required.Strong communication skills with ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a digestible way especially with business leaders (e.g., executives, senior directors) as well as technical team leaders.Skilled at developing and exercising cross-functional influence, aligning business and technical teams around a common architecture vision. This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role.
