ResponsibilitiesRecruit and manage a team of data engineers working on multiple simultaneous projects with a focus on data preparation and pipeline development for ML predictive modeling
Provide strategic guidance and mentorship around the following topics:
Data interrogation, exploratory data analysis, profiling, and reconciliation
Data pipeline creation, revision and monitoring based on product manager and data scientist/actuarial input
Feature creation, initial testing, and ongoing management
Data security and governance
Work collaboratively with other staff including product managers, data scientists, data analysts, architects to solve problems, develop innovative approaches, and provide project status
Create and manage data assets, datasets, features, and code with a focus on simplicity, scalability, reusability, and clear documentation
Demonstrated success at developing teams and achieving large productivity gains
Additional work assignments not related to specific project work such as new feature development, external data research, providing user feedback on new products and tools under development
QualificationsBachelors or Masters degree or equivalent industry experience
Passion for solving complex data engineering problems
10+ years of relevant data engineering experience
5+ years of relevant management experience, including recruiting and developing a new team of data engineers
Advanced, hands on experience building ML data pipelines, modeling datasets and features for predictive modeling
Expert SQL skills, including advanced functions, table design, view creation, stored procedure and script design and coding, general performance tuning
Expert data profiling and analysis skills including statistical analysis
In-depth knowledge of Python for data processing ( Pyspark, Polars, Pandas)
Deep experience with DBT and AWS data capabilities like Airflow, Glue, Athena, Redshift, EMR
Experience with developing and automating data quality monitoring
Experience in a regulated industry required; experience with
US/Canadian P&C standard lines of business a bonus
Ability to plan and carry out projects with minimal direction
Self-motivated and detail-oriented with desire to solve problems

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $169,000 - $290,000 . Your base pay will depend on your experience, skills, education, training, and location among other factors. All full-time positions or part-time roles working 30 hours or more a week at Guidewire are eligible for benefits that support their health and well-being including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a company sponsored retirement plan. In addition, some roles may be eligible for the annual company bonus plan, commissions, and/or long term incentive awards which are contingent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, company and employee performance.Disability Accommodations and Guidewire’s Appeals Process.
