**Data Engineer (SQL)**
**About the Role:**
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive SQL Developer to join our team in the property industry. This is a key role focused on delivering robust, scalable, and high-performing SQL code to support business-critical reporting and operational systems. You’ll be expected to collaborate directly with both technical teams and business stakeholders, translating requirements into clean, efficient SQL solutions that meet and exceed expectations.
**What You’ll Do:**
+ Design, develop, and optimize complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions for enterprise-grade property and finance systems.
+ Maintain and enhance our reporting database environment, including ETL pipelines and reporting layers.
+ Engage with business stakeholders (finance, property management, property management accounting) to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
+ Ensure adherence to best practices in SQL coding standards, version control, and inline documentation.
+ Focus on query performance tuning, indexing strategies, and execution plan analysis to ensure optimal database performance.
+ Proactively identify data quality issues, schema design improvements, and opportunities for automation.
+ Participate in code reviews, ensuring maintainability, scalability, and adherence to security and governance standards.
+ Collaborate with analysts, software developers, and data engineers to support wider data initiatives.
**What You’ll Need:**
+ Expert-level proficiency in T-SQL and SQL Server environments (SSMS, SSRS, SSIS preferred).
+ Strong understanding of database normalization, indexing, query optimization, and execution plans.
+ Proven experience working with large-scale reporting databases, ideally within the property or real estate sector.
+ Ability to understand and challenge business requirements, translating them into efficient and effective SQL solutions.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills—able to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users.
+ Familiarity with accounting principles or property management systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, Qube) is advantageous.
+ Experience with data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, or OLAP/OLTP structures, cloud solutions like Snowflake, AWS, Azure is a plus.
+ ETL tools experience (Alterxy, Savant, PowerQuery, SnapLogic)
+ Highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to producing clean, well-commented code.
+ Organized, able to work independently and effectively manage workload
+ Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
**Desirable Attributes:**
+ Experience in Agile environments and working in cross-functional product teams.
+ Understanding of data governance, GDPR, and security in database environments.
+ Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with changing priorities.
+ Demonstrated ability to exceed client expectations through proactive problem-solving and strong stakeholder engagement.
+ Technical experience of MRI, Yardi, YSR reporting skills or another Property Management Systems
+ Programming experience in Python
