We invite passionate individuals to join our team, dedicated to exceeding customer expectations through innovative and sustainable solutions. **The Role:** Xylem Utility Services, Assessment Services (Pure Technologies, https://www.xylem.com/en-us/brands/pure-technologies/) is seeking a Data Engineer Intern that will be assisting for the design, development and testing of data engineering algorithm and models, and the implementation of Machine Learning applications for innovative robotics and platforms to provide real-time monitoring of underground infrastructure. In this role, the individual will also demonstrate the ability to succeed in a fast-paced, fluid environment, while ensuring that product initiatives are met. Xylem Internships typically last 10-12 weeks and are an opportunity to get hands-on, professional experience while making a lasting contribution to Xylem as an organization. Our internship program is intended to create a pipeline of talented undergraduate students who are interested in a career in the water innovation technology industry. Interns are our primary talent pool for all full-time early career positions and rotational programs. This internship is a great opportunity to learn more about Xylem and see if a career in water technology is right for you. The hourly rate for an intern is dependent on a variety of factors including major, year in school and geographic location. Locations of internships will vary based on the specified project and function, and will either be on-site, hybrid or fully remote. **Core Responsibilities:** + Organize, manipulate, filter, and visualize a large quantity of data from designated products and sensing technologies + Work closely with other data scientists and data engineers to Organize, manipulate, filter, and visualize a large quantity of data from different products and sensing technologies + Work closely with product engineering team (software, electrical and mechanical engineers), engineering architects and product owners to understand, design and develop algorithms and mathematic models to optimize and automate data acquisition, generation, processing, analysis and reporting + Work closely with other data scientists to develop AI, ML, and deep learning models that meet product development requirements while supporting real time monitoring, predictive analysis, feature recognition and extraction etc. + Document and report project deliverables, instructions and user manuals, model development, deployment and testing results to supervisor and stakeholders + Communicate effectively & proactively with the project team(s) to accomplish project objectives + Self-motivated to bring his/her skills to the next level and able to learn concepts and new techniques quickly and effectively + Experience or interests on acoustic, electromagnetic, and ultrasonic sensors or general sensing technologies preferred **Qualifications:** + 3rd or 4th year of university students in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Applied Math, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechatronics or other related science or engineering fields + Hands-on programming experience with strong development skills in Python, Matlab, C++, C#, or Java. + Creative problem solver with key attention to detail and strong analytical skills to make data-driven decisions. + Strong understanding of statistics, linear algebra and calculus. + Broad knowledge of signal processing, time series and spectral analysis + Excellent communication and documentation skills. + Time management skills, tasks prioritization skills and ability to work independently.
