THE ROLE
As a pivotal team member, the Data Engineer will support developing and managing tools and processes crucial for our data-driven decision-making. Your role encompasses end-to-end data management, pipeline development, storage, optimization, and governance across various verticals like food and beverage, e-commerce, digital marketing, event ticket sales, and consumer analytics. As a small and agile team, we take an "all hands on deck" approach, fostering an environment where you can take the lead on projects, provide and implement recommendations, and bring your own solutions to life.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develop performant and scalable data pipelines (ETL/ELT) using PL/SQL, Python, and data transformation/IaaS platforms (ex. SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Fivetran).Develop processes for data cleansing, matching name and address data, and data enrichment (ex., demographics, and firmographics).Deploy data storage solutions capable of handling structured and unstructured data effectively.Normalize and denormalize transactional data for integration into the data warehouse or data lake house architecture.Advocate for and implement best practices and SOPs in alignment with DevOps (CI/CD) principles.Adhere to change management and version control protocols (ex., Bitbucket, GitHub).Deliver solutions focusing on time-to-market, quality, accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.Translate business specifications into technical design specifications and code.QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related fieldOver three years of hands-on experience in data integration development.Data pipelines to and from relational databases (Azure/SQL Server, Postgres SQL, Oracle), CRMs (e.g., Salesforce, Hubspot), marketing automation (ex. Klaviyo, Salesforce Marketing Cloud), and e-commerce platforms (ex. Shopify, Big Commerce).A demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft data services including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure Function, Azure Blob Storage, SQL Server and SSIS.Proven expertise in using Python for data pipelines, analysis, or transformations.Advanced skills in connecting to data sources using standard protocols such as HTTPS, ODBC/JDBC, sFTP, and S3, facilitating the ingestion of structured and unstructured data formats like CSV and JSON.Experience designing database structures for data science (ex. Python) and visualization (ex. Tableau)Experience with handling PII data and associated policies and compliance requirements (Preferred)Working knowledge of data governance best practices and data privacy policies (Preferred)COMPENSATION
