About the Role
The Data Control Team Leader plays a key role within the Innovation and Brand Change Development Team, part of our Global Technical function, and reports directly to the Data Control and Transformation Manager.
In this role, you’ll manage a team of skilled Data Controllers, helping to drive Diageo’s ambition to be the most innovative, trusted, and respected consumer goods company in the world.
You’ll work closely with our Function and Category Brand Change teams, ensuring the project pipeline is fully supported with the right data resource to deliver high-quality, accurate data. Your work will directly impact core critical metrics such as Data Quality, while contributing to wider Innovation and Brand Change goals like Speed to Market and On Time in Full delivery.
As a Data Control Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for leading, developing, and supporting your team to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of project data. Key responsibilities include:
Leading all aspects of people leadership, including recruitment, absence management and performance development.
Working closely with the Innovation & Brand Change teams to plan and allocate Data Controller resource in line with the project pipeline.
Leading your team to scope, develop, and deliver end-to-end project data requirements, acting as a key contributor within project teams.
Monitoring and communicating key data metrics such as Data Quality and Right First Time, while supporting broader critical metrics like Speed to Market and On Time in Full.
Representing the data function in tier meetings, handling issues, and leading root cause problem solving (RCPS) for live issues.
Taking ownership of and facilitating the Tier 1 Improve process.
Being responsible for team workload through resource allocation and mailbox request management.
Ensuring EQMS (Electronic Quality Management System) tasks are effectively maintained across the team.
Acting as an overflow when needed, stepping in to complete data tasks to support delivery timelines.
About You
We are looking for someone who will bring energy, curiosity, and a collaborative attitude to lead a high-performing team and drive impact through data. Experience in an FMCG environment is preferred, but we welcome a range of backgrounds and experiences that demonstrate transferable skills.
You’ll be a natural relationship-builder, comfortable navigating a fast-paced environment, and passionate about the value of data in delivering innovation and brand change.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
The ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders across multiple functions and levels of the business
Experience leading a team in a dynamic, project-led environment with the ability to adapt and flex as priorities shift
A strong analytical approach, with great attention to detail and a drive to deliver high-quality outcomes
An understanding of the broader Supply Chain and how accurate, timely data underpins its success
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a true teammate who can influence and collaborate with ease
Confidence using IT systems, with the ability to quickly build knowledge of new tools. Experience with SAP PLM/DEP would be an advantage
