Job Overview: We are looking for a Data Control Assistant to work Full- time night shifts managing the specimens processing and handling in our laboratory department, a professional who is interested in helping people to stay healthy and save lives,

Job Overview:

This position is responsible for the L.I.S. functions in the Central Specimen Receiving Area. This includes L.I.S. data entry, creation of barcode labels, entering requisitions, & generating patient & departmental reports. This position also labels & prepares specimens for send out or analysis. This position performs phlebotomy and EKG as assigned. You will be tasked with handling blood, tissue, and fluid from patients for testing, research or donations, Processing the samples coming to the laboratory department, verifying patient information, labeling specimens accurately and entering records in the laboratory information system. Centrifuge to separate plasma and serum when needed. Distribute all specimens to the appropriate department,Call hospital floors and doctors Offices when required for follow up and request of new specimen for additional testing,

Qualification

Required:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of technical course in Phlebotomy,
EKG or computer skills preferred.

Licensure: None required. Certified Phlebotomist or EKG Tech required.
Experience: 6 months phlebotomy & EKG experience.

Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions):

Full-Time Day 37.5 Hour Work Week

Essential Functions:

Accurately utilizes L.I.S. to enter requisitions, receives specimens and generates barcode labels.

Answers and takes messages for all lab departments as needed.

Assists the technical staff as needed. May include calling panic values,placing blood cultures in Bactec, etc.

Assists via telephone or visit and resolves order entry, LIS, CRT, printer & interface problems which may occur on and off campus.

Covers a pneumonic tube system station in the Core Lab when needed.

Delivers and charts patient reports and various supplies to locations on and off campus.

Demonstrates willingness and flexibility in accepting schedule and assignments.

Examines specimens for suitability for analysis and provides corrective action.

Exhibits a courteous, positive,responsive attitude duringinteractions with external & internal hospital customers.

Generates patient & departmental reports & collection lists as scheduled.

Keeps the Receiving Area Drawing Site clean and well organized.

Maintains equipment in the Specimen Receiving area and the Drawing Site in a good working condition.

Performs E.K.G. functions as necessary.

Performs phlebotomy functions within and outside the Medical Center as assigned.

Performs registrations of patients in hospital system and a variety of clerical functions to ensure thesmooth running of the Central Receiving Area

Prepares & delivers specimens to the appropriate departments in a timely and accurate manner.

Utilizes Quest Laboratory Order EntrySystem & successfully prepares specimensfor send out to reference lab.

tilizes excellent communication skills in servicing the internal and external hospital customers
