Looking for a creative Mechanical & Electrical Engineer with exposure to DC operations and Project Management skills to work on all project stages for building out new Datacentre's for Morgan Stanley (MS) in Japan. Project will heavily involve coordination with internal of Morgan Stanley teams and onsite external DC service providers and vendors.
It involves planning of building new data centres working with professional MEP consultancy/DC service providers on site selections, building due diligence, design validation, RFP preparation, vendors selection and recommendation, witness, testing and commissioning, handover and project close out.
The role also requires overseeing existing and new data center operations, review service provider M&E maintenance, manage MS white space operation and operation budgets in Japan.
Detailed job descriptions as below:
1. Liaise with data center third party service providers ensuring compliance with Health & Safety requirements and that the designated Key Performance Indicators(KPI) and Service Level Agreement (SLA) are met or exceeded.
2. Responsible for overall project coordination with MS internal teams, MS contractors, Data Centre service providers, MEP consultancy, etc. Attending and/or hosting onsite project meetings tracking against project deliverable milestone.
3. Work with internal Morgan Stanley teams to understand the technical requirements, EDC standards and best practices for the data centre buildout.
4. Provide inputs & recommendations on the design parameters (M&E) based on the technical expertise.
5. Involve in the RFI / RFP of the Data Centre Service Provider, provide inputs on the RFI / RFP document as required.
6. Participate in site selection process, evaluate all RFP responses, conduct due diligence of Data Centres, provide recommendation to Morgan Stanley based on all design parameters including cost.
7. Work with Morgan Stanley internal team on contract document preparation and finalize the award of DC Service Provider.
8. Travel to sites for site review and work with service providers engineers, as well as provide engineering evaluations, Mechanical & Electrical systems audits.
9. Work with the service provider to come up with the handover checklist as part of the space handover to MS.
10. Work with Service Provider to witness in testing and validate installation, operation, and performance of Mechanical & Electrical systems. E.g. Integrated System Test.
11. Prepare defect lists for different MS contractors and Service Providers buildout.
12. Provide weekly reporting on project construction status to Morgan Stanley Internal teams.
13. Work with the MS IT team on the installation of the IT equipment , support IT equipment allocation and installation from the M&E perspective.
14. Strong knowledge of mission critical Data Centre equipment design including (not limited to) UPS, Batteries, Generators, Air Handling Units, CRAC/CRAH, Cooling towers, Chillers, Sequence of Operations, BMS Control Systems, Fire Detection/Suppression systems.
15. Project close out reports and handover of O&M manuals to EDC Operation team.
16. Oversight of data center M&E infrastructure, support daily operations, capacity management, change management, incident management, review of technical method statement and risk assessment from data center service providers.
17. Manage existing Data Center Operation and budget on white space IT operations. i.e. rack and stack activities, hardware break/fix activities, support of entire is IT asset lifecycle.
18. Identify, evaluate, and plan for external risks to the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the data center.
19. Contribute to regional and global objectives in areas such as resiliency studies and design guidelines.
20. Support the local EDC team in the implementation of critical engineering system status monitoring as well as building emergency response and escalation procedures. 1. Proven (minimum 10 years) working experience in Mechanical and Electrical mission critical system.
2. Experience in buildouts, testing and commissioning, handover on data centre projects will be a plus.
3. Must be fluent (read/write/speak) in Japanese and English. Bilingual requirement is a must.
4. Creativity and analytical skills, in depth understanding of critical data centre mechanical and electrical equipment.
5. Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.
6. Possess leadership and problem-solving skills, be a motivated, highly dependable individual.
7. Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data centre equipment and facilities.
8. Would be creative and innovative and provide recommendation to reduce costs with no impact on quality and reliability.
9. Knowledge of International standards, local building codes and regulations including Life Safety.
10. Able to work within a team proactively and good communication skills.
