Cvent is seeking a visionary and highly skilled Data Architect to lead the technical strategy for our “Data as a Product” initiative. In this senior role, you will define and execute the architecture that enables advanced analytics, scalable reporting, data science, and AI solutions across the organization. You will be responsible for building a robust, future-proof data foundation leveraging your deep experience in data warehousing, data lakes, and complex ETL pipelines. In This Role, You Will: Define and drive the technical direction for Cvent’s enterprise data architecture, enabling seamless access to high-quality, trusted data products. Architect and build scalable data warehouses, data lakes, and modern data platforms supporting advanced analytics, reporting, and machine learning use cases. Design and implement complex ETL/ELT pipelines, ensuring data quality, reliability, and performance across diverse sources and formats. Collaborate with engineering, product, and analytics teams to deliver data solutions that empower decision-making and innovation. Establish data governance, security, and metadata management best practices to ensure compliance and data integrity. Lead efforts to optimize storage and compute for large-scale data in formats such as Parquet, Avro, and ORC. Remain hands-on with Java development, providing code-level expertise and mentorship to the engineering team. Evaluate and select technologies and tools for data processing, storage, orchestration, and analytics. Develop strategies for real-time and batch data processing, streaming architectures, and cloud-native data solutions. Advocate for and implement data product thinking, treating data as a first-class, reusable asset across the organization. Here's What You Need: 10+ years of experience architecting and building enterprise data warehouses, data lakes, and complex ETL pipelines. 10+ years of hands-on software development experience, with expertise in Java and related frameworks. Expert-level SQL skills, with deep experience designing and optimizing queries for large datasets. Extensive experience with data lake formats (Parquet, Avro, ORC) and distributed data processing. Strong understanding of modern cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and associated data services. Proven track record in designing scalable, high-performance data architectures and solutions. Experience with data governance, metadata management, and data cataloging. Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, analytics, and business teams. Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Flink, or similar. Familiarity with data modeling for analytics, machine learning, and AI applications. Experience with Event-driven architectures for driving ETL/ELT pipelines and backfilling. Experience defining Data Domains and Data Products. Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Dagster, Prefect). Working knowledge of Python or Scala in data engineering contexts. Background in enabling self-service data analytics and building data marketplaces. Experience with data mesh, data fabric, or related modern data architecture paradigms.
