Salary: $7,280 - $8,190/month

Position Summary

Progressive Turnout Project seeks a detail-oriented Data and Technical Support Manager to ensure seamless technical operations for our Distributed Organizing program in California, Georgia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia this fall. This is a critical role for someone who thrives on problem solving and providing exceptional technical support to our volunteer teams.

Reporting to the National GOTV Director, the Data and Technical Support Manager will be responsible for maintaining all program software systems, ensuring optimal functionality of our remote organizing platforms, and providing immediate technical support to volunteers participating in our distributed organizing program. The Data and Technical Support Manager will serve as the primary technical liaison between our volunteer base and internal systems, troubleshooting issues and maintaining data integrity throughout the campaign.

This is a remote position based in the United States. The Campaign Director must structure their workday to overlap with Progressive Turnout Project’s core hours: Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time. Upon program launch (~October 6), the Campaign Director must be available during all scheduled volunteer shifts.

There are no formal education requirements for this position. A background in government or politics is not required, but you must be willing to learn new things and stay curious. People of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

Manage Program Software and Technical Infrastructure

Monitor and maintain all program software systems including mapping tools, volunteer portals, and mobile applications used in our distributed organizing program Ensure optimal functionality of EveryAction, Mobilize, and other campaign technology platforms Conduct regular system checks and performance monitoring to prevent technical issues Coordinate with vendors and PTP VP Data to resolve any platform-wide technical problems Maintain backup systems and data recovery protocols to ensure program continuity

Provide Immediate Technical Support to Volunteers

Monitor email and technical support inboxes to respond immediately to volunteer tech support inquiries with care and accuracy Provide real-time troubleshooting assistance for volunteers experiencing issues with mobile apps, mapping tools, or data-entry systems Create and maintain technical support documentation, FAQs, and troubleshooting guides for common volunteer issues Conduct one-on-one technical support calls when needed to resolve complex volunteer technical problems Track and analyze patterns in technical support requests to identify and address systemic issues

Maintain Data Integrity and System Performance

Assist with data cleanup for volunteer, supporter, and engagement records throughout the campaign Ensure accurate data flow between volunteer activities and central campaign databases Monitor data quality and implement processes to maintain clean, actionable datasets Generate regular reports on volunteer engagement, technical performance metrics, and system usage Collaborate with the Campaign Director to ensure technical systems support volunteer recruitment and retention goals

Monitor Digital Platforms and Communications

Manage technical aspects of content across owned digital platforms, email marketing tools, and volunteer communication systems Ensure proper functionality of automated email sequences, text message systems, and volunteer notification platforms Monitor social media and digital platform performance from a technical perspective Coordinate with digital team members to resolve any technical issues affecting supporter communications

Qualifications (You will be a good fit if):

You have at least 1–2 years of technical support, database management, or systems administration experience–whether in political campaigns, nonprofit organizations, or customer service environments You are deeply committed to protecting democracy and energized by work that helps increase Democratic voter turnout You are a patient and clear communicator, with experience providing technical support to non-technical users via email, phone, or chat You have exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills, meaning you can quickly diagnose technical issues and provide effective solutions You are comfortable using and troubleshooting customer relationship databases and tools like Mobilize, EveryAction, VAN/VoteBuilder, or similar platforms You are an empathetic and efficient communication who can help frustrated volunteers solve technical problems with patience and clarity You are curious and resourceful, whether that means researching software bugs, testing system functionality, or exploring new technical solutions You are skilled at working independently and managing multiple technical support requests simultaneously You have advanced experience using Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Drive) and are comfortable with spreadsheet functions and data management

Preferred Qualifications (Not required):

Experience with political campaign technology stacks and voter databases Background in database administration, data analysis, or system administration Familiarity with mobile application troubleshooting and smartphone-based campaign tools Experience with API integrations and data synchronization between platforms Knowledge of basic HTML, CSS, or other web technologies for troubleshooting digital platforms Experience providing technical support in high-volume, fast-paced environments Background in quality assurance testing or system performance monitoring
