PurposeThis Data Analyst position will join the McCombs Career Management & Corporate Relations. The primary purpose of this role is to manage data analytics and reporting to support strategic initiatives and business decisions for the career coaching teams. In particular, this role will develop and enhance data analytics for the McCombs Career Management & Corporate Ecosystem team. These analytics will provide student insights and internal/external employment trends
ResponsibilitiesData Analysis and ReportingCollect, clean, and analyze large and complex data sets to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for improving services and programs.Strategize on making analyses easily repeatable and generalizable by other team members in the future by documenting methodology and validation.Manage employment data analytics for career coaching teams; lead all internal and external reporting requests. Requests include and are not limited to: outcome and employment data submissions, media requests, annual employment reports, reports to the Dean, employers, faculty, and department inquiries.Develop data visualization dashboards (via Power BI, Tableau, Smartsheet, etc.) that outline industry and function YOY trends, leveraging past employment data, and forecasted data from current student surveys. Trend analysis will provide career coaching teams with just-in-time analysis that can allow the teams to adjust content to meet dynamic student needs.Data Collection and ManagementDevelop and implement processes to maintain, collect, link, and analyze data from various sources (e.g., Report McCombs, McCombs Analytics Reporting System), including internal and external systems, to produce strategic, operational, and tactical dashboards.Conduct surveys and other forms of data collection to assess student needs and satisfaction with services and programs.Ensure data quality and accuracy through regular audits and quality control measures.Innovation, Strategy, & TechnologyStay up-to-date on industry trends and emerging data analysis and reporting technologies.Collaborate with colleagues across the college (e.g., Program Offices) to share data and insights and foster a culture of data-informed decision-making.Identify opportunities for data-driven innovation in Career Management, such as using artificial intelligence and machine learning.Use technical expertise to advise on procedure changes and platform functionality that support achieving CE&C’s outcome goals. Manage and maintain the technical aspects of McCombs Analytics Reporting System and/or Report McCombs, ensuring our systems operate at peak performance and according to industry best practices. Predictive Modeling and Statistical AnalysisBuild KPI scorecard and tracking process for the CMCR department. Identify and track KPIs that define performance success across career coaching, employer/alumni partnerships, and recruiting operations teams. KPIs will tie to the annual goal setting and performance review process.Support the development of predictive models and statistical analyses to identify patterns and predict career outcomes.Other duties as assigned
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field.3+ years of experience in data collection and analysis, with demonstrated proficiency in data analysis tools and software such as Excel, Tableau, or Power BI.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large and complex data sets.Ability to communicate complex data insights and solutions to non-technical stakeholders clearly and compellingly.Strong organizational work skills, defining tasks, prioritizing assignments, and independently following through on all projects.Highly proficient with web-based resources, spreadsheets and presentation software required (MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel) Experience conducting surveys and other forms of data collection, and familiarity with survey design and analysis.An entrepreneurial orientation and proven track record of taking the initiative and making things happen (i.e., self-starter).Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and to build strong relationships with colleagues and partners across the institution.Strong attention to detail/accuracy and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.Strong customer focus (ability to listen attentively to internal stakeholders to understand and respond positively to their requests) is required.Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of accreditation standards related to career services and student outcomes data.Deep knowledge of undergraduate and graduate level careers (specifically within Finance Services, Consulting, Technology, CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods), Retail, Manufacturing, and Transportation).Master's Degree in Business Administration Data Science, Analytics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, or other quantitative discipline and 4+ years of experience in data collection and analysis.Salary Range$70,000 + depending on qualificationsWorking ConditionsMay work under standard office conditions with repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.This is an Austin, TX-based position.Applicants must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
