Cytologist - Per Diem

Description:Saint Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury CT        PER DIEM

You would be responsible for performing a variety of complex laboratory tests and procedures on neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients according to established standards: maintains and/or calibrates scientific equipment. Provides teaching and education to lab students and other personnel.

What you will do:

Obtain and/or process specimens utilizing appropriate techniques for maintaining the integrity and identification of the patient and/or specimen in relation to the test performed.

Uses proper documentation procedures.

Adhere to laboratory’s quality control policies and document all quality control activities.

Position Hours:
Per Diem - must be able to work full 8-hr shifts, a minimum of two shifts per month, one weekend every three months, one holiday per year.

During on-site Lab training must be available for an 8-hr technical training on day shift (8-4), M-F.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Cytology.

Experience as a Cytotechnologist

CT (ASCP) required

Strong interpersonal skill; technically competent. Ability to adequately use, or learn to use, computerized system and associated devices. Adaptability and flexibility necessary for work schedule and patient care requirements. Good command of the English language and medical terminology.
