BBN’s Network & Cyber Technologies (NCT) team leverages computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, math, and physics to tackle customer challenges in electromagnetic warfare (EW), communications, cybersecurity, cyberspace operations, networking, and RF domains for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) customers. BBN is looking for creative, entrepreneurial, and highly motivated scientists, engineers, and developers who want to create, contribute to, and grow cutting-edge research projects for offensive and defensive cyberspace operations.

Develop next-generation Cyber and EW capabilitiesAnalyze computers, networks, and signals to understand how they work and how to break themDevelop new and advanced security techniques in embedded, Internet of Things, and traditional systemsCreate or investigate new types of cyber physical systemsDisassemble and analyze binary code

Qualifications You Must Have:

A Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)Demonstrated passion for technologySolid, creative programming skills using one or more of: C/C++, Python, or equivalent languagesCoursework and/or experience designing, developing, modifying, and debugging software or hardware systems or prototypes, with concrete examples of coding projectsStrong verbal and written communication skills in relevant technology topicsPosition may require some amount of overnight travelU.S. Citizenship with eligibility to obtain a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer - Familiar with all, Expert in some:

Familiarity with security concepts (confidentiality/integrity/availability, authentication/authorization, etc.)Experience building software for embedded devices and consumer electronics (e.g. ARM, Arduino/Raspberry Pi, Linux, Windows OS, Android, iOS)Understanding of OS internals (e.g., Windows, Linux, MacOS, Android)Understanding of cyber-physical systems security considerationsExperience with disassemblers (e.g., IDA pro, Ghidra)Experience using debuggers such as gdb or WinDbgUnderstanding binary or systems reverse engineeringTCP/IP networking fundamentals and tools (e.g., iptables, firewalls, tcpdump, wireshark, packet analysis)Internet security protocols (e.g., TLS/SSL)Signal processingSoftware Defined Radio experienceExperience applying the scientific method to challenging mission problems

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance after day one of employment.

The salary range for this role is 62,000 USD - 118,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
