Business Unit Overview

New York Life’s Purchase Experience (PX) value stream has embarked on an exciting journey to transform the end-to-end purchase experience for New York Life’s agents, clients, and business operations, encompassing all products, including life insurance, annuities, long-term care insurance, disability insurance, business solutions and wealth management.

Role Overview:

The Corporate Vice President (CVP) Life, Investments, & Annuities Suitability and Sales Standards role is responsible for leading New York Life’s Suitability function comprised of approximately 40 employees with strong influence over many cross-functional stakeholder groups who are associated with the Suitability function. The team is responsible for ensuring life, annuity and investment product sales (and certain inforce transactions) are in the client’s best interest and in accordance with our regulatory environment. New York Life is searching for a dynamic leader with demonstrated success working in a continuously evolving environment, able to collaborate with senior leaders from diverse stakeholder groups including legal, compliance, product, agency, and technology while able to foster a strong team culture and sustain high levels of employee engagement.

** Location – Primary location for this role is New York, NY. Also open to Dallas, TX or Cleveland, OH. **

 What You’ll Do:

Ensure Suitability function provides expert advice and guidance to New York Life’s sales stakeholder groups through timely service delivery, engaging in informative discussions while also upholding our standards in accordance with defined Suitability guidelines. Works with sales and compliance to identify points of friction within our processes, then develops plans to resolve focusing on evolving protocols and/or providing education to inform groups into the rationale of suitability philosophies while also providing clear insight into best practice navigation. Continuously assesses the training needs of both sales and suitability team members, then works with training support groups to update and evolve knowledge management strategies, as necessary. Focus on continuously evolving functional workflows and technology as agent and consumer needs change Provide inspirational leadership to team members and foster a strong sense of employee satisfaction. Strong ability to create written deliverables via Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Expert written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to develop key performance indicators reflecting operational health while effectively managing to these indicators to socialize performance and forecast future needs. Strong ability to develop annual plans with execution-oriented focus and able to artfully communicate the results of plans and attributable execution. Stay abreast of industry best practices that influence the suitability function and develop action plans in response to evolving trends. Continuously assess the Suitability team’s operating model and evolve model as needs and expectations evolve.

 What You’ll Bring:

Bachelor's degree preferred and/or equivalent experience FINRA Series 7 and 24 required; Series 53 or 54, 63 or 65, and 27 preferred 10+ years of leadership experience with demonstrated proficiency with risk assessment and service delivery Experience managing large, complex, multi-site operations teams with an influential customer segment required Expert relationship building skills and cross-functional collaboration experience required

Pay Transparency

Salary Range:  New York: $133,000 - $225,000 // Dallas & Cleveland: $120,000 - $210,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No 

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
