The role youll contribute:
Assists licensed anesthesia providers with patient care and anesthesia equipment maintenance. Works in cooperation with the anesthesia and surgical team in assisting with safe and effective patient care in the surgical CVOR setting. Responsible for providing training and ongoing education to team members. Demonstrates competency in all CVOR procedures within Scope of Practice as appropriate to the ages of the patients served: geriatric, adult, adolescent and pediatric. Performs multiple departmental assigned tasks, but not limited to, assisting with invasive line placement, transportation of patients, room readiness, specimen transportation, and the turnover process between surgical procedures. It also involves the environmental cleaning of the surgical suites and semi-restricted areas, replenishment of anesthesia and room supplies, set up of equipment and other assigned duties required in the CVOR department.
The value youll bring to the team:
Participates in direct patient care in a supporting role as directed by the licensed nurse or anesthesia providers. Assists anesthesia providers with clinical activities as requested, including supervised assistance with patient positioning for procedures.
Under the direction of licensed anesthesia providers, assists with as requested: Assists in preparation and draping of the patient for invasive monitoring procedures. Assists and anticipates needs during invasive monitor insertion and procedures such as pulmonary artery catheter, central venous access, regional anesthesia, fiber optic intubation, and is familiar with the ASA Difficult Airway Algorithm. Anticipates the need for invasive monitoring according to daily CVOR schedule. Aids in the preparation of patients for major invasive monitoring and/or complex cases including but not limited to placement of BP cuff, ECG leads, Pulse Oximetry, defib pads, and positioning. Set up for clinical use: A-lines, CVP, Swan-Ganz lines, etc.
Prepares laryngoscope and intubation equipment, IV solution tubing set-up and IV warming devices. Obtains and transports blood products from blood bank as ordered and directed by CVOR staff.
Provides training and orientation to staff and new personnel for both routine and complex cases. Assists in development of training programs for new anesthesia techs and for ongoing education. Maintains competency by attending departmental in-service training.
Ensures anesthesia supplies are maintained at adequate par levels in anesthetizing locations and anesthesia workroom.
The expertise and experiences youll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications :
High School diploma or GED required.
5 Years experience as an anesthesia tech or equivalent job
