The Opportunity:

Responsible for ensuring day-to-day functions of department are carried out. Support plant initiatives and directives.   Relieve Department Manager.  Maintain housekeeping and 5S to standards set by management. Follow all Smurfit Westrock Core Values and Behaviors. Training requirements for this position are maintained in the Training Module of Compliant Pro.Perform quality checks/audits on cartons being processed. Coordinate and adjust crewing machines according to demands and departmental goals.  Monitor labor usage.  Be conscious of employee needs and assist them with any issues/concerns, monitoring the culture and reporting to the department manager both good and bad.  Be conscious of all safety issues and concerns.  Work with the department manager to help maintain procedures and processes supporting Performance Excellence.  Work with department manager on internal advisories and corrective actions within the complaint database.  Direct and evaluate department personnelTalks about OEE improvement daily with all operators and tracks goals and wins.  Should be able to readily identify OEE roadblocks and actively pursue their removal.  Assist department manager is setting employee expectations and tracks development.  Assist department manager with timely follow through on employee reviews and increaseAdditional job duties as assigned by department Team Lead.Protective Equipment Required: Safety glasses, hair nets, beard nets, composite/steel toe shoes, ear plugs, bump caps and gloves per glove policy. 

 

What you need to succeed:

Ability to use and read basic measurement devices, (calculator, tape measure, and ruler.)  Ability to operate lift truck. Ability to operate pallet jack.  General mechanical aptitude.  Pass Farnsworth Munsel-100 Hue Test. Ability to operate, copier, and fax. Good computer skills (Excel, Word, Schedule Assistant, AS400)Able to follow detailed instructions for training and quality. Communicate with managers, customer service, accounting, production employees

Safety:

Required- PPE must be worn while on your job.  At a minimum, safety glasses, safety toe shoes and hearing protection are required in the facility. Additional PPE may apply dependent on task.Required- All safety policies, guidelines and authorities must be followed. Required – Comply with safety participation program.
