Customs Specialist (CS) - Decatur, IL

Position Summary: The CS works together with the Customs & Excise Trade Compliance (CETC) global teams. The role involves collaboration with several internal stakeholders across ADM.

Job Responsibilities: Supports CETC Special Project Lead a variety of projectsDrives the regional implementation of CETC special projectsSupports external Customs auditsDeliver training for colleagues who are not customs specialistsHost office hours sessions to address questions in key customs topicsIdentify opportunities for CETC special projects across ADM Country of Origin (CoO)Management of CoO data in SAP GTS (where deployed)Determination and maintenance of CoO dataset Customs BrokersMaintain master list of customs brokers used by the businessObtain and analyze declaration data from brokers on a regular basisIdentify risks and opportunities in the broker data setDrive performance management sessions with key brokersMaintain an up-to-date set of Powers of AttorneyRequired Skills: Has a strong knowledge of customs legislation with a focus on (NA, LATAM, EMEA, APAC)Has proven experience in trade compliance and internal and external auditingIs familiar with origin determinationHas good experience with SAP GTS and/or other customs automation solutionsGood working knowledge of HS classification, Free Trade Agreement qualification, operation of customs reliefs and customs valuation.Works accuratelyIs a critical thinkerIs an efficient communicatorIs familiar with stakeholder managementHas a proactive attitudeHas extensive digital literacyHas professional English language skillsEducation Requirements: The CS has a relevant university degree or higher, supplemented by relevant
professional training.

Required Experience: The CS has at least 7 years active experience as a customs specialist, working in a large or medium-sized company. Previous roles should include the filing of customs and excise declarations, internal auditing, data processing, and reporting.

Additional information: The CS will be working in the corporate Customs & Excise Trade Compliance function of the ADM organization.
