The Customs Expert will provide customs expertise and technical advice to Customs Control Tower Team, developing team knowledge and ensuring compliance and efficient submission of customs declarations via MIC tool (Customs IT System). You will train and guide the team to develop and maintain awareness of regulatory compliance, duty management and operational excellence in customs processes, acting as a focal point of expertise for the team.
With us you will:
Provide technical input to support MIC import, export and transit procedures
Train the team on customs procedures and processes
Ensure final process deployment is compliant with regulatory requirements and assist in developing procedures to be performed by the team
Design procedures to ensure compliance and efficient operation of MIC import, export and transit procedures
Ensure compliance with all regulations – report issues and performance to the iTrade central team to ensure reporting and resolution of any issues (internally and externally)
Liaise with external customs brokers to ensure BCP and back-up operational support for outages
Responsibility for overall compliance of all submissions to the authorities via MIC system
Job Qualifications
Apply if you have:
Proven customs experience either within a Customs Authority, Customs broker, Consultancy, or Importer/Exporter
Experience and knowledge of Customs IT systems (not necessarily MIC, but similar) which file customs declarations directly customs authorities
Strong collaborative and team player skills
Strong ownership & accountability and a hands-on “CAN DO” attitude is a must.
Fluency in English (written and spoken)
Audit/Internal controls experience
Bachelor’s Degree
