Customs & Compliance Intern

We are seeking a highly motivated student to join our team supporting the company’s Import-Export Customs department.

Learning Opportunities

Understanding the purpose of international shipping and business documents (Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, Purchase Order, Certificate of Origin, etc.)Learning INCO terms – What they are and their importance in International TradeWorking with Customs and other Government agency requirements for Import and ExportExperience in International Logistics – How to move freight from A to B and calculate the landed cost of goods.Insight in Supply Chain and how it works – The role it plays in a manufacturing company.How to work with Free Trade Agreements – How to qualify goods.Understanding the Buy America Program – How to meet the requirements for Government ContractsReal world business experience with a large global corporation with a presence in over 50 countries

Duties will include but are not limited to.

Coordinate International Logistics activities with manufacturing locations, Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain and Business Teams.Help assure on-time supply of imported goods, monitor, and report on import order status and troubleshoot issues with Customs Brokers.Monitor email traffic to ensure receipt of International Documents for presentation to Customs Brokers.Maintain documentation in accordance with Government regulations.Collect and analyze data for monthly and quarterly metrics, as well as ad hoc analytical and reporting needs.Obtaining freight rates, HTS classification or other data required to prepare estimated landed costs.Assist with development and publication of training materials.Managing trade data in SAP

Qualifications

Capable of extracting data and performing research on websitesProficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point
