Customized Product Development Chemist-2
Takes day-to-day responsibility for, or provides support to research projects that generate new products, processes and understanding of commercial value to JM whilst building fundamental understanding of the science involved. Works independently and is able to co-ordinate and plan projects under general guidance. Applies initiative, innovation and creativity in solving day-to-day technical and research challenges. Typically a PhD in physical sciences or relevant industrial experience.

JOB PURPOSE
Design and support the manufacture of catalysts in order to comply with customer and legislative
requirements within Gasoline sector in India, giving due consideration at all times to Quality standards, EHS
and Sustainability. Produce and interpret technical data, for circulation among internal and external
customers, to assist with the improvement of products and processes to gain competitive advantage for JM
Gasoline team.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Understand JM Clean Air gasoline Aftertreatment Technologies and improvement opportunities.
Lead gasoline formulation for Indian OEMs with global team support.
Prepare catalysts for internal/external testing.
Analyse test results and present outcomes.
Drive development activities per JM NPI process.
Maintain a customer-facing role and support cross-functional teams.
Collaborate development with Global Tech Centers.
Investigate new raw materials and improve lab capabilities.
Mentor junior engineers and support department initiatives

SCOPE
Authority to perform assigned responsibilities and propose development experiments.
Collaborate with Product Development and Applications Managers.
Authority to stop unsafe work.

SPECIAL FACTORS
Requires regular communication with global teams across time zones.
• Involves travel to meet customers as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
QUALIFICATIONS/ KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE
(TECHNICAL/ PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS COMPETENCY)
PhD in chemical/B.Tech in chemical / M.Tech in Chemical/ or M. Sc in Chemistry Essential
1-3 years of experience in the Emission/Catalyst industry Desirable

PERSONAL SKILLS & KEY COMPETENCIES
(INCLUDING JM BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AS APPROPRIATE)
Strong knowledge of catalysis, automotive catalysts, emissions legislation. Essential
Laboratory safety and equipment usage.- Essential

IT proficiency including Microsoft Office and Project Essential
