Customer Service Assistant

Kalama, WA

Hybrid – In office 3 days per week – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

Primary Purpose  

The purpose of this position is to provide support to the Customer Service Department by assisting with customer service representative backup coverage, order entry, generating and updating reports, helping customers with order status updates, following up with other departments on late orders, and managing coil cleanup and quotations.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

In addition to complying with all safety and environmental policies and contributing to the company’s Zero Harm commitment, the Customer Service Assistant performs the following duties:

Assist in customer service representative backup coverage by being proficient in Steelscape product offerings, capabilities, and operational procedures.Enter customer orders into order management software according to company policy and procedures, including the order confirmation process.Generate, update, and load customer reports on a regular basis.Perform follow-up tasks such as proofreading orders, reviewing held coils, clarifying orders, tracking delayed shipments, and coordinating with internal departments.Support customer service and account managers by preparing or updating quotes using the web quote system.Participate in special projects and contribute to process improvement initiatives.

Education & Experience Qualifications

Minimum:

High School diploma or GED2+ years of customer service or front office experienceProficient use of office machinery such as copier and scannerStrong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectivelyTeam-oriented and highly motivated

Preferred:

Experience using SAP

Salary Range: This position's estimated hourly rate of pay is $20.78 - $28.58. The actual base rate of pay will be dependent on an individual’s skills, qualifications, and experience. This role is eligible for 401k Savings plan, Healthcare (medical, dental and vision), and other generous rewards.
