We are seeking a dedicated Customer Quality Engineer to manage customer complaints and inquiries related to our electrical motors. This role involves collaborating with engineering, assembly, and production teams to develop corrective action plans and identify root causes of product errors. The position is based in Bluffton, IN, and involves working with a diverse range of customers.
Responsibilities
+ Serve as the initial or second point of contact for customer complaints and inquiries.
+ Collaborate with internal teams to develop corrective action plans and identify root causes.
+ Lead investigations into product issues and drive resolution.
+ Manage relationships with 5-6 major customers and additional smaller clients.
+ Focus 80% of time on customer complaint quality-related issues and 20% on internal scrap and reporting quality-related issues.
Essential Skills
+ Strong understanding of root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
+ Experience with 8D, PPAP, and lean manufacturing principles.
+ 5+ years of experience in quality engineering.
+ 2+ years of experience in customer quality/customer complaint management.
+ Comfortable in a people-facing role and working with cross-functional teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
+ Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies is beneficial.
Work Environment
This role operates within a medium-sized company environment at a local level, although part of a large international organization with multiple sites across the USA. The work hours are from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM or 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The facility in Bluffton employs 100 people, and the process engineering team is expanding. The work involves being on the floor regularly and interacting with machinery, which may expose you to oil, coolant, and metal residue. The company offers 2 weeks of PTO, 6 paid holidays, and various insurance and benefits options. It is a union shop, but this will not directly impact your duties.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $41.00/hr.
