The Customer Service Specialist plays a critical role in supporting energy efficiency initiatives by providing exceptional service to customers through inbound and outbound communications. This fully remote position requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual who can manage a high volume of calls and emails while promoting program participation, resolving inquiries, and maintaining accurate records. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with a passion for helping others and a commitment to delivering high-quality service in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
+ Answer incoming customer calls and log all interactions accurately.
+ Manage multiple phone lines and programs, including transferring calls appropriately.
+ Promote participation in energy efficiency programs based on customer eligibility.
+ Resolve customer inquiries related to products, services, billing, and program details.
+ Maintain positive relationships with customers by delivering empathetic and responsive service.
+ Address and resolve customer complaints, escalating and recommending solutions as needed.
+ Make outbound calls to schedule appointments, conduct surveys, and promote program offerings.
+ Follow up on unresolved customer calls to ensure timely resolution.
+ Provide accurate updates on application status and rebate check processing.
+ Enter and maintain customer data in tracking systems and databases.
+ Support Program Managers, Energy Engineers, and Energy Advisors with administrative tasks.
+ Communicate with customers via phone, email, and other media channels.
+ Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality to meet performance expectations.
Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
+ 1–2 years of customer service experience, ideally in a fast-paced environment.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to manage a wide variety of tasks and prioritize effectively.
+ Detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated.
+ Experience resolving customer issues and understanding program parameters.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
+ Strong data entry skills and familiarity with customer tracking systems.
+ Ability to analyze data and solve practical problems.
+ Basic math skills including fractions, percentages, and ratios.
+ Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
+ Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
