Custodial Worker – Full-time/Evening Shift

This position is located in Tallahassee, FL.
Position Overview and Responsibilities:
The employee in this position performs custodial duties in the Capitol Building. Duties may also include incidental custodial duties as assigned.
General Custodial Duties:
Clean equipment and perform other related work as required.
Empty trash cans, dust furniture, clean walls.
Perform other related work as assigned by supervisor, i.e., clean baseboards, windowsill dusting, etc.
Elevators: clean floors, walls & stainless on a daily basis.
Window cleaning: clean all interior windows on a quarterly or as needed basis.
Clean front entrances, glass, and rugs.
Clean & wipe down all water fountains daily.
Empty all outside ashtrays daily.
Breakrooms: wipe down tables and empty trash daily; clean refrigerator, microwave, dust windowsills, wipe down exterior and interior of cabinets, wipe down counter and sink areas and wash trash and recycle bins on a weekly basis.
Recycling: empty recycling bins biweekly or as needed.
Report any maintenance as needed.
Dust all interior signage on a weekly basis.
BATHROOM DUTIES
Thoroughly clean and disinfect restrooms on a daily basis, re-visiting during the day to clean, restock and empty trash as needed.
Clean shower floor area on a daily basis.
Wipe down walls, polish fixtures on a weekly basis.
FLOOR COVERING DUTIES
Vacuuming office areas on a weekly basis, using bonnet, shampoo, and extraction methods. Spot cleaning as needed.
Mop kitchen areas, DMS breakrooms and tenant kitchen areas daily.
PUBLIC RELATIONS/OTHER DUTIES
Incumbent maintains good public relations with peers, supervision, and tenants in the building.
Performs other related work as required.
Move heavy furniture during the process of cleaning, using safety procedures to avoid injury.
Keeps equipment and work area clean and stocked.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities, including utilization of equipment required for the position:
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of custodial duties.
Knowledge of safety procedures required in custodial duties.
Skill in using custodial equipment.
Knowledge of safety hazards and precautionary methods.
Ability to work alone as assigned.
Ability to model behaviors of Accountability, Communication, Empowerment, Flexibility, Integrity, Respect, Teamwork
Licensure/registration/certification requirements (If applicable, list the appropriate Florida Statute or federal regulation cite):
A valid and applicable driver’s license is required.
Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of one year’s custodial experience.
Physical Characteristics: prolonged periods of time walking, standing, bending, climbing (ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles) and exerting up to 30 pounds of force frequently.
Adheres to safety awareness policies in the workplace, views safety videos when presented and attends required safety meetings. Practices lessons learned on a daily basis to avoid accidents.
Additional background screening may be required by tenant agencies based on position assignments or access requirements.
