I. Position Summary: A Room Service Attendant is responsible for accurately delivering meals to the patient. They are responsible for returning trays to the kitchen after meal periods. A Room Service Attendant may assist in preparation, service and cleaning required for the patient tray line and the cafeteria food service.
II. Position Requirements: Must realize the importance of prompt and accurate meal service to the patients. Must realize the importance of proper food preparation according to given recipes, be concerned for cleanliness, observe routine work schedules and follow the System and departmental operating procedures. Must be able to carry through to completion assigned and planned tasks. Must exercise initiative and also have the ability to exercise sound judgment performing daily and assigned work. Must have the ability to prioritize and correct problems, as needed.
A: Licensure/Certification/Registration: None required
B. Education: Must be at least 16 years of age. HS diploma is desirable but not required.
C: Experience: Previous food service experience in a hospital or extended care facility is desirable but not required.
D. Special Qualifications: Must interact in a positive and friendly manner with patients, residents, visitors, coworkers and other staff.
III. Degree of Supervision Required: The degree of supervision varies from direct to in-direct with periodic supervision.
