Position Summary
McNary High School is seeking a forward-thinking Audio Production Technology (APT) teacher to lead a refreshed program that balances performance, technical skills, and student empowerment. This role supports both artistic expression and post-secondary readiness, particularly for students who benefit from nontraditional pathways. The successful candidate will collaborate with Career and Technical Education (CTE) areas—including Digital Media Arts, Marketing/Management, and Events—to create a truly interdisciplinary program.

Key Responsibilities
- Teach hands-on courses in Audio Production Technology that include live sound engineering, digital audio workstations, and project-based learning.
- Collaborate with other CTE pathways to support school events, concerts, assemblies, and athletic productions.
- Supervise and support student participation in structured, safe performance or technical projects aligned with classroom goals.
- Build an inclusive community for students who thrive in creative and alternative learning environments and support their path to graduation.
- Integrate relevant industry practices and provide opportunities for students to explore post-secondary and career options.
- Teach additional music classes such as guitar or piano, as needed, based on licensure and student demand.
- Maintain clear expectations for space use, equipment, and supervision, ensuring student safety and minimal disruption to other programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Oregon teaching license with Music or CTE endorsement (or ability to obtain licensure).
- Experience teaching guitar and/or piano in a school setting.
- Industry experience in live audio, studio production, or music technology.
-Extensive performance experience in at least one of the following areas: guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, vocals, song-writing and working experience in all.
- Proven ability to manage equipment and supervise students across multiple learning environments.
- Demonstrated success working with diverse learners and collaborating with colleagues.
