The incumbent in this position is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging services in the specialty of Computed Tomography. The technologist is responsible for the safe operation of a variety of equipment to produce images of the patient’s body for diagnostic purposes. The technologist is responsible for providing exposure in the modality of Computed Tomography to the Radiologic Technologist program students and may provide instruction to interns. Interviews patients, explains procedures, performs venipuncture and assists in positioning the patient for procedures. Reviews test results with radiologists/referring physicians.
Essential Job Functions
General Duties:
•Calibrates equipment and review general maintenance
needs.
•Performs clinical assessment and computed tomography
exams as ordered by referring provider. This includes patient interview,
explanation of procedure and process.
•Appropriately positioning of patient as needed for exam
study
•Review patient history and previous imaging studies (as
applicable). Discuss and clarify potential imaging parameters with supervising
Radiologist, as needed.
•Performs ordered CT exam using appropriate scan
protocol, slice thickness, scan time, and other technical data as applicable.
•Analyzes exams, synthesizes CT information, medical
history, and utilizes independent judgement to ensure quality diagnostic study
performed.
•Communication with Radiologist to bring attention or
clarify if any further imaging sequences are needed.
•Maintains CT scan images and documentation in accordance
with Billings Clinic policies, procedures, and standards.
•Assists in coordination of scheduling, transportation,
and scanning of patients.
•Ability and level of comfort in working with all age
populations.
•Works with In-patient, Emergency, Trauma, and
Out-patient patient types.
•Complies and maintains with general organizational as
well as department/modality specific training requirements of the position.
•Potential responsibility in providing coverage in
additional imaging modalities that are allowed as needed for facility
operational needs covered within licensure (Ex: Diagnostic Radiology,
Mammography, MRI)
•Maintains competency in all organizational,
departmental, outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety
standards relevant to job performance.
•On-call Responsibility as needed for operational
coverage/support.

•Technical fluency to utilize needed imaging equipment to obtain CT exams. This equipment would include CT scanner, scanning console, contrast injector, post processing software.
•Competent in providing imaging studies on all patient types served at facility: Out-patient, In-patient, and ER patients
•Accurately performs a variety of clerical and image management tasks, as required, such as working up patients, completing the appropriate paperwork following each examination, properly identifies exams for PACS storage and review.
•Ability/Competency to perform all routine CT department imaging protocols as determined by Supervising/Interpreting Radiologist
•Ability to perform Computed Tomography imaging on all age levels (new born through geriatric).
•On-call requirement as needed to provide organizational coverage for CT imaging.
•No active disciplinary processes or attendance issues.
•Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered
