POSITION SUMMARY: Under the leadership of the Surgical Services Nurse Manager, demonstrates competency in identification, decontamination, processing and sterilization of surgical instruments. Has a thorough understanding of processing and sterilization of surgical instruments.  Has a thorough understanding of processing equipment, including but not limited to, sterilizers, washer decontaminators and ultra sonic cleaner following a detailed orientation. QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Minimum: High School education or equivalent. Preferred:  Certification as Central Sterile Technician.
LICENSE:
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS: Minimum: Central Sterile Technician certification requirement within 12 months of hire. 
WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum: Previous experience in sterile processing. 
SKILLS: Minimum: Conscientious regard for technical and minute procedures. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Computer literacy.

Salary Range: $19.26 - $21.81 based on years of experience.
