As CS/SPD Manager, you will oversee the Central Sterile/Sterile Processing Department, ensuring the proper operations and functioning of teams responsible for cleaning and maintaining surgical tools and equipment. In this role, you help improve the ability of caregivers to deliver exceptional, safe and reliable care. While you may not interact with patients daily, your efforts significantly improve their healthcare experience and treatment outcomes.
A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM – 3:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Manage the operations of caregivers in the CPD department.
Serve as an expert on sterilization systems.
Develop annual departmental strategic and operational plans with the director.
Prepare annual budgets.
Manage staffing requirements and cost-effective programs.
Supervise the team that processes and distributes sterile equipment and supplies to clinical areas.
Develop, review and maintain all quality processes, safety programs, customer service programs and sterile monitoring programs for the department.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agencies.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma/GED
Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) or Certification Sterile Processing and Distribution Licensure in Sterile Processing (CSPDT)
Five years of experience in Central Services/Sterile Processing and or related OR field, including one year of managerial experience in a processing service that supports a surgical service, general patient care service, outpatient activity or equivalent
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s Degree
Certification Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA) from American Society for Quality (ASQ) within two years of hire

Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting items that weigh 20-30 pounds.
Requires the ability to push a fully loaded cart weighing up to 200+ pounds.
Possible exposure to biological and chemical contamination.
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to within normal range.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
