Certified CS/SPD Technicians are responsible for cleaning and maintaining surgical and hospital tools. In this position, you help ensure patients have the best possible healthcare experience by providing caregivers with safe and sterile equipment. Along the way, you will receive ample support, training and education, including knowledge of the latest, state-of-the-art technologies and concepts. A caregiver in this position works evenings/nights and weekends from 7:00pm to 7:00am.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Provide safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment.  Perform case pull functions.  Determine appropriate case carts to be built for specialty procedures.  Build case carts ensuring adherence to procedures.  Dispatch case carts to ensure availability for surgical/clinical procedures.  Perform record keeping, ordering, stocking and inventory control.  Scan, sort and inspect instruments for functionality and cleanliness and assemble instruments according to provided lists, wraps and labels. Monitor and control the distribution of supplies and equipment. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

High School Diploma or GED Two to five years of experience in central service/sterile processing areas A Sterile Processing certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER) Proficient in using computerized instrument tracking systems Military experience, such as Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F), or similar, will be considered  

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Completion of a recognized training program with certification in central service/sterile processing Basic computer skills

Physical Requirements:

Lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull and navigate supply carts weighing >than 75 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
