Administers anesthesia to patients of all ages in the operating room, delivery room, and provides other related services as needed in other patient care areas according to Medical Center policies and procedures. Position requires high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others.
PRACTICE SPECIFICS
Medically directed practice with collegial Anesthesiologists 19 active ORs at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center (SMMC), 380-bed tertiary care center, Level I Trauma Center; high acuity11 active ORs at Essentia Health Duluth (formally Miller Dwan) a 151-bed care center; approximately 80% outpatient surgeries8, 10, 12, & 16-hour shiftsOther anesthetizing sites are EP lab, Endoscopy, OB, CT, Northern Pines Hospital (Aurora, MN)Busy surgical schedule, diverse practice excluding transplant and complex pediatricsJOB QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Education and/or years’ experience required:
Has graduated from an accredited school of nursingHas graduated from an accredited school of nurse anesthesiaKnowledge of current principles and methods of general, regional and local anestheticsAbility to function in stressful and emergent situationsLicensure/Certifications required:
Holds a current license in the state of practiceIs certified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists; and has graduated from an accredited school of nurse anesthesia and is awaiting initial certification. Must pass certification exam within 12 months of graduation.Re-certified per the NBCRNAHolds current BCLS/ACLS certificationKnowledge, Skills, Abilities and Mental Requirements
Knowledge of current principles and methods of general, regional and local anesthetics Ability to function in stressful and emergent situations
