Responsibilities
As a member of a nurse/paramedic team, the Critical Care Transport Paramedic delivers care to patients during all phases of rotor wing, fixed wing and ground critical care transport. Note: The Critical Care Transport Paramedic is expected to fulfill all aspects of the EMT/Paramedic Job Description as well as all items identified in this addendum.
**Interviews for this position will be held in Rochester on October 28 and potentially the 29.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Five years' full-time pre-hospital experience as a licensed paramedic in a 911 ambulance service which has a call volume of less than 2500 calls per year. Three years' full-time experience in a 911 ambulance service which has a call volume of greater than 5000 calls per year. A baccalaureate degree is preferred. Previous R/W flight transport experience preferred. Previous Critical Care transport and/or Emergency Department experience preferred. Audit with successful completion of Advanced Trauma Life Support (or equivalent course work as approved by Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service Medical Director) within six months from date of hire. Applicants must meet and maintain a weight not to exceed 250 pounds in flight uniform. Critical Care Transport Paramedics are required to maintain full-time employment (0.75 FTE) with an ALS service or a hospital patient care area. This service must maintain a call volume as listed above. Must be proficient in English; must be able to read, write, and speak English. This is a FAA safety sensitive position that requires passing a Federal level background screen. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record in accordance with Mayo Clinic Policy. Passport required within three months of hire date. License requirements include: current certification as Nationally Registered EMT/Paramedic (NREMT-P); current certification/licensure as Minnesota/Wisconsin EMT/Paramedic; Wisconsin Critical Care Endorsement; CCEMT-P or equivalent;(Critical Care endorsement/CCEMT-P does not need to be renewed after initial certification) Flight Paramedic Certification (FP-C) must be achieved and maintained within one year of completing their orientation process as defined by the Nursing Education Specialist (NES). Certification requirements include: BLS; ACLS; PALS; NRP; ATLS didactic audit within one year of hire.
