Job Overview:

The Crisis Worker is responsible for dispatching crisis calls received from PerformCare also known as the Contracted Systems Administrator. The Crisis Worker will deliver services to youth who are vulnerable to or experiencing stressors, coping challenges, emotional or behavioral symptoms, difficulties with substance use as a coping strategy, or traumatic circumstances that may compromise the youth's ability to function optimally and thrive within their family/living situation, school and/or community environments.

MRSS is available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, year-round. These services include the initial face-to-face intervention within one hour of request and follow-up interventions, services and coordination for up to 72 hours after the initial intervention.

If the youth continues to exhibit patterns of behavioral and emotional needs that require continued intervention and care coordination at the end of the initial MRSS period, the youth may be assessed for transition to the 8-week Mobile Response Stabilization Services or Care Management Organization Services as part of the transition planning. MRSS is delivered by applying crisis intervention principles, as well as core System of Care values and principles. Care is strength-based, youth-centered, family-driven, community-based, trauma-informed, and culturally and linguistically mindful. Care planning is individualized, collaborative, and flexible based on youth and family needs. The program serves ages 0 to 21.

Orientation and training are provided by the state and by the program. Continuing education is provided by the state and our hospital. There is a certification process for the first two years of employment. Staff will be trained on the Cyber and EPIC Electronic Medical Record programs. Both programs will be used to manage the day-to-day work of the program.

Qualifications:

Required:

Minimum of BA in psychology, mental health, social work, sociology or related behavioral health field degreePost Bachelor's degree, one-year experience in a relevant fieldUnencumbered current New Jersey driver's license as determined by the employer and validated by the NJMVAA vehicle for working in the field in an urban/suburban area

Preferred:

Bilingual in Spanish

Scheduling Requirements:

Shift working, Monday-Friday, 3 days in the office 8-4pm and 2 days in the community 1-9pmWeekday on call every other week from 9pm-8amOne weekend on call per month, 9pm Friday to 8am Monday One holiday per yearFT

Essential Functions:

Trained and certified to use the Crisis Assessment ToolCompleted the DCBHS training protocol for CMRSS workers and is able to apply this training and knowledge to his/her caseworkDemonstrates compliance to all DCBHS/CMRSS standards in regard to service delivery guidelines. This includes, but not limited to, responding to the scene of the crisis in one hourContact is made with the family within 24 hours of the initial dispatch to ensure continued crisis stabilization and documents this contact within the progress noteDemonstrates competency with regard to managing cases open for stabilization services. This includes, but is not limited to, preparation of updated ICP, discharge ICP and Discharge Crisis Assessment Tool. Completes all documentation and billing requirements for stabilization cases in a timely mannerDemonstrates proficiency in interviewing, assessing and linking families to formal and informal community-based servicesGathers all relevant patient information necessary for a thorough assessment and communicates this information to Program Supervisors in a clear and comprehensive mannerDemonstrates competency in identifying family needs and strengths, and utilizes this information to create the ICPDemonstrates a working knowledge regarding presumptive eligibility and 3560Demonstrates a working knowledge of the managed care system. This is demonstrated by his/her ability to secure information regarding a patient s benefits and understands how to find providers within a family s insurance networkProvides relevant and timely feedback to Program Supervisors regarding patient needs, barriers to services as well as information that is emergency in nature
