RWJBarnabas Health is looking to add a qualified full-time Crisis Professional in Somerville, NJ

Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor s degree in social work, psychology, nursing or related clinical field required Excellent customer satisfaction skillsTwo years experience in a mental health setting

Preferred:

Experience in crisis intervention/emergency services preferred

Scheduling Requirements

Night Shift, 40 hours/weekFull Time Schedule

Essential Functions:

Transportation arrangements:

Arrange transportation through the Medical Center for patients requiring transfer between facilities

Communication:

Communicates findings with on-call psychiatrist to decide on appropriate disposition of patient within the Network, other agencies or homeCommunicates these findings to the ED staff

Documentation/Admissions/Assessments:

Compiles with any agreement Hospital has with managed care companies for on-site face-to-face evaluations if acute services are necessaryCoordinates commitment process through the designated screening centersDocuments assessment on the designated medical record form in accordance with established Department documentation standardIf psychiatric inpatient admission is required, the crisis professional will obtain insurance precertification and contact the on-call Psychiatrist for final authorization of the admissionInitiate admission process to either RWJ or other appropriate facilityMaintains statistical records as appropriatePerforms a face-to-face mental health assessment to determine the appropriate level of care in consulting with on-callPerforms mental health evaluation to assist in determining a patient s level of careProvides appropriate forms and releasesWhen patient admission is not required, the crisis professional gives the patient the Central intake number and faxes all information to them

Patient Care:

Serves as an advocate for clients by facilitating connection with personal support systems and follow up mental health servicesUses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient s age specific treatment and careOnce contacted, arrives in the Emergency Department within 30 minutesParticipates in QA/QI activities,
