Crew Chief / Lieutenant

Amentum is seeking a **Crew Chief/Lieutenant** for a position on **Kauai, HI** . Supporting the Fire & Emergency Services Department. With minimum supervision, serves as a work leader for a crew of two or more. Responsible for the operational effectiveness of the crew during emergency and non-emergency activities. Directs crew’s actions as necessary to complete assigned tasks. Takes corrective action with supervisors to address substandard performance or violation of policy or procedure.
**Responsibilities**
Specific assignments and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following areas:
+ Conducts crew proficiency training as necessary to ensure assigned personnel meet professional performance standards.
+ Leads crew efforts in fire suppression, search & rescue, specialized operations, treatment of sick and/or injured, precautionary standbys, and various customer service requests.
+ Performs Incident Command (IC) duties in the absence of the supervisor (Assistant Fire Chief), directing crew efforts in accordance with (IAW)established IC protocols.
+ Facilitates efforts in station maintenance, tools/equipment inventory and inspections, apparatus cleaning and inspection, and resource preventive maintenance as required.
+ Conducts facility fire inspections to validate compliance to life safety standards and codes. Identifies hazards and deficiencies and takes appropriate action to report code violations.
+ Enforces compliance to professional competencies, department procedures, and company policies. Takes immediate action to correct and/or address substandard performance.
+ Completes reports as required and IAW department procedures.
+ Performs job related, collateral duties and other tasks as directed by supervisor.

Physical:
+ Must be able to pass an annual Performance Fitness Evaluation of essential job tasks.
+ Must participate in an exercise and fitness training program every on-duty day.
+ Must participate in an annual fitness assessment of the following components: aerobic capacity, body composition, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility.
+ Must complete strenuous fireground tasks as assigned during emergency situations or in a training environment.
+ Must participate in annual respiratory protection training evaluation IAW requirements in NFPA 1404, Standard for fire Service Respiratory Protection Training and be able to function effectively while wearing a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) with face mask.
+ Must meet the medical requirements outlined in NFPA 1582, Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments, Chapter 6.
+ Lifting, pushing/pulling: Over 50 lbs. (two-men assist)
+ Work positions requirements: walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, cramped, sitting and repeated frequent climbing.
+ Customer contact, extended workday, confined work area, field assignment, and inclement weather.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ High School Diploma or equivalent is required
+ Must have a current Hawaii Driver’s license.
+ Must have the following Professional Certifications (IFSAC or ProBoard affiliate);
+ Airport Firefighter
+ Fire Officer I
+ Fire Inspector I
+ Fire Instructor I
+ Hazardous Materials-Technician
+ Hazardous Incident Commander
+ Incident Safety Officer
+ Fire Inspector II (within six months from position assignment)
+ Must have a current National Registry of Emergency Technician – Basic (NREMT-B) license or higher.
+ Must have a current CPR/AED card American Red Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) affiliate.
+ Must successfully pass an annual skills validation evaluation on the professional certifications required of this position.
+ Five years’ experience with an organized Fire Department.
+ Two years’ experience as a Rescue Specialist and/or Driver-Operator.
+ Two years’ experience with Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) services.
+ Must process the following PC skills:
**MICROSOFT OFFICE:** Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point
**Security Clearance**
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a US Government Security Investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.
