About this position:

Starting Wage: $22.00 - $25.00, depending on experience

Farwest Steel's Credit department seeks a knowledgeable and dependable individual to join their team as Credit Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for managing accounts receivable, evaluating customer creditworthiness, ensuring timely collections, and fostering strong customer relationships. By analyzing financial data, negotiating payment terms, and collaborating with internal teams, you will play a key role in maintaining cash flow, minimizing risk, and supporting the company’s financial success.

Key Responsibilities for this role include:Evaluate credit applications and determine the creditworthiness of applicants based on financial data, credit scores, and other relevant informationAnalyze financial statements, credit reports, and other financial information to assess the risk associated with extending credit to customers or clientsContact customers via phone, email, or mail to secure payment on overdue accountsNegotiate payment plans and terms with customers to facilitate timely repaymentMaintain accurate and up-to-date records of all collection activities and communications with customersAnalyze delinquent accounts and recommend actions to resolve outstanding balancesCollaborate with sales teams and other departments to resolve credit issues and ensure a positive customer experienceMaintain aging reports that meet corporate benchmarks for collectabilityMaintain an organized system to keep customer files up to dateCommunicate with team members and management when changes occur to customers’ financial statusAssist with departmental projects that drive overall corporate successMeet with customers
Minimum Qualifications:High School diploma requiredProven credit collections experienceSense of discretion and willingness to maintain strict confidentiality of pertinent and sensitive informationStrong communication skillsAbility to multi task and manage timeAdept at negotiation and possess a strong business acumenAbility to research financial information and present data to team and managementProficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
Preferred Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferredExperience with Oracle preferred
