Credit Specialist
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Credit Specialist to join our client's team in Saint Paul, Minnesota. This long-term contract position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, assisting with accounts receivable tasks and credit-related processes for clients across multiple states. The role requires a strong focus on accuracy and problem-solving, with the potential for career growth within the organization. Responsibilities: • Process and apply cash payments accurately, ensuring proper allocation to client accounts. • Investigate and resolve discrepancies, such as short payments or misapplied funds, through thorough research and analysis. • Collaborate with sales representatives and account managers to address client concerns and payment disputes. • Perform reconciliation tasks for a high volume of transactions, maintaining precise records and ensuring compliance with state-specific regulations. • Analyze credit memos and variances to identify and correct issues promptly. • Assist with coding and classification of transactions based on unique state requirements. • Communicate effectively with clients to clarify payment details and resolve outstanding issues. • Maintain familiarity with industry standards and legal requirements for payments in the liquor industry. • Support the team in meeting deadlines and achieving accuracy in all accounts receivable processes. • Utilize the AS400 system to manage and track financial data efficiently. *Please note that all candidates are required to provide 2 recent supervisor or manager references in order to be considered for employment. Requirements • Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounts receivable or a related field. • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to handle complex payment discrepancies. • Proficiency in corporate credit, collections, and commercial credit processes. • Familiarity with account reconciliation and variance analysis. • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. • Comfortable using legacy systems such as AS400 and willing to learn new tools. • Excellent communication skills to interact with clients and internal teams. • A degree in accounting or a related field is preferred, but not required.
